You’re Beautiful review – 미남이시네요

I finally finished the Korean drama series, You’re Beautiful after almost a week? I can’t remember how many days was I able to squish watching it between work and sleep haha.

This is now my 2nd favorite next to ISWAK. 🙂 And this would just be the 3rd Asian drama series that Carmi recommended that I was able to finish and loved at the same time. Usually what happens is, when she recommend some titles that I watch, she would give me a CD or a file for the series but for some reason it always gets misplaced or deleted. Hahaha.

You’re Beautiful is about a band A.N.JELL who would be adding a new member to their group but the selected member, Go Mi Nam has to undergo some surgery in the US during that time. In order to still fulfill Mi Nam’s dreams of becoming a star, his twin sister Mi Nyu who was all set to become a nun, took his place and pretended to be him.

As the story progresses, Go Mi Nam (Mi Nyu) played by Park Shin-hye, keeps getting the group’s leader, Hwang Tae Kyung (Jang Geun Suk) into trouble that he has already bestowed her the title of “walking accident zone.” Then as there’s someone who bullies Mi Nam, there’s also Jung Yong Hwa as Kang Shin Woo, who had already realized the Mi Nam was a girl during the debut has been looking out for her ever since. And even as he didn’t accept Mi Nam as easy as Shin Woo or Tae Kyung, Jeremy (Lee Hong Ki) was the fun part of the house who always makes Mi Nam laugh.

Here are just a few of my favorite scenes:

[Episode 11] Manager Ma advised Mi Nam to use a pressure point to control her emotions which is pressing her nose upward whenever she feels like her heart is going to burst. I so love Tae Kyung’s reaction when he first encountered Mi Nam’s pig nose because he was so startled at Mi Nam and thought that she was teasing him because he was chased by a pig. Hahaha. And as he was already referring to Mi Nam like a rabbit beforehand (during the episode that they went to Mi Nam’s hometown, they got lost in the woods during the time that Tae Kyung was chased by a pig and he said he is afraid of rabbits; he said that Mi Nam is like a rabbit–cute but dangerous), he created the Pig-rabbit as a way to give back the hairpin that Yoo He Yi took from Go Mi Nam.

[Episode 13] During the time when Mi Nam signed up for the official fan club, Tae Kyung decided to give her a test before she gets accepted. Unfortunately, he keeps getting scores or 3-4-5-6-7, (with 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest) with the average of 5 before the last question. His last question was “How much do you like Hwang Tae Kyung” and Go Mi Nam answered 100! 😀 Hahaha Hyungnim grabbed pig-rabbit and hugged him.

And as Mi Nam was waiting for the webmaster’s reply if she got it, she received a text from Tae Kyung saying that there is a fan meeting. She requested that Tae Kyung sing Fly Me to the Moon. 🙂 [Download here] –>short version, just found this somewhere in the net.

[Episode 6] One of those episodes that got be bawling. This was when Mi Nam went to see Mother Superior and thought that Tae Kyung wouldn’t take her home anymore so she was walking around Seoul looking for clothes to change to. Shin Woo was at the phone with her during that time telling her where to go and what to buy and she didn’t know that he was actually following her around. It was just too sweet. But then when their trip around the city was over and Shin Woo was about to tell her that he was there, Tae Kyung called and said he’d be picking her up.

Other unforgettable scenes/lines:

Tae-kyung: Listen carefully because I’ll only say it once… I like you. ❤

Shin Woo: “You were almost here. You should have taken just one step more…”

Jeremy: Not saying that you waited is the same thing as not waiting, you arrogant butthole!

Tae-kyung: “You’re listening now, aren’t you? It’s so bright here, and your side is so dark that I can’t see you. Please, don’t be where I can’t see you! Come to where I can see you. Give permission to let me see you.”

Tae-kyung: Listen carefully because I’ll say it everyday… I love you. ❤

I have just been looking around the net for the photos that I actually forgot the real review part hihi. 🙂 I love the drama and the comedy part blended together. I know this is really not a drama series but I was seriously affected with all those sad scenes. Especially every time Shin Woo would not be able to tell Mi Nam how he feels or when Mi Nam keeps holding back her feelings for Hyungnim. And also oftentimes that the song Without Words are being played, I kept crying at that hahaha. I cried when Jeremy cried too, at the bus.

The Ipod that Mi Nam secretly returned to Hyungnim’s room in th beginning was lost in context. Tae Kyung just knows that Mi Nam was a nun without that link.

The reason why the real Go Mi Nam was in Jinju was never revealed.

I haven’t gotten around to watching it again so I forgot already some of my favorite moments there. But all in all, this series is a must see. I can’t remember when I had been searching and downloading photos and music of bands (even if they aren’t a band in real life), I think that the last time I had been like this was during the F4 times hahaha. 😀
